|INGRA d.d. was founded on the 18th of February 1955 as a business association of the largest and most important companies, at the time, with the aim of uniting these and joint presentation of themselves abroad. From the very beginning, INGRA offered and carried out large investment projects like large power plants and industrial plants, and also constructed large tourist complexes, hotels, hospitals and similar capital facilities according to the “key in hand” system. In the more than 50 years of its existence, INGRA has carried out more than 700 investment projects in more than 30 countries in the world. INGRA, today a well known brand throughout the world, owing to its tradition and long-term presence on the market has succeeded in maintaining and expanding its market and has even opened new ones.
The traditional markets of INGRA include, among others the markets of Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Algiers, Libya, the Sudan, Niger, Nigeria, Iraq, Iran, Jordan and Syria, in which INGRA is continuously active.
For example, INGRA has been present in Algiers for 30 years now and in this period has constructed many significant projects. Thanks to its references on this market to date, INGRA remains a present and recognisable partner. In Germany INGRA has been present almost from its founding, and today, within the framework of GIU INGRA-DET it unites about 40 Croatian companies that work in Germany according to a quota system. Through this company INGRA today unites more than half of Croatian quotas. INGRA has also been systematically working in other markets for many years now. At the beginning of the nineties of the past century, when not only legal but also political changes occurred in Croatia, INGRA passed through a series of status transformations, from conversion and privatisation to quotation as a public joint stock company. Today INGRA is a completely privatised joint stock company, whose majority shares are in the hands of small shareholders.
In a business sense, INGRA has continually adapted to changes in the market and coordinates its activities in accordance with these changes. It is for this reason that in the middle of the nineties of the last century it turned its attentions to the Croatian market which, consumed by the aftermath of the war, cried out for reconstruction of infrastructure and production. INGRA participated in the construction of the motorway in Croatia, the largest construction and infrastructure project in the country. It was the main contractor in the construction of telecommunication network for the operator VIPNet, while it has successfully combined its basic activities with the development of tourism through the reconstruction and renovation of hotels in the Dubrovnik region.
Even today INGRA connects investment construction with the needs of economic development in Croatia, so that for example it heads a programme for the construction of marinas and small ports in the Dubrovnik region in cooperation with the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and it is also the responsible party of the Greenfield project in the sector of tourism in Croatian in the form of a public-private partnership with the Municipality of Posedarje. Even today INGRA continues to intensify business activates in the market of the Republic of Croatia, primarily within the framework of motorway construction projects and through expanding activities connected to tourist activities.
In 2004 INGRA also entered into construction of residential buildings in Croatia and began construction of a residential-commercial complex in Zagreb, in the street Ilica, and then there it also the construction of urban villas in Srebrenjak. INGRA’s activities in regard to construction of residential buildings are expanding to the region of the Dubrovnik-Neretva and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and Istria.
